About
Secrets Between Sailors met while band members were studying music, art and English at Indiana University. They played their first show at a now defunct lesbian bar in Bloomington, IN called Willie Joe's. Their first, self-titled record was recorded by Mike Bridavsky at Russian Recording and mastered by Bob Weston of the rock band Shellac at his studio, Chicago Mastering Services. Zack DePew left the band amiably in 2009 and was replaced by Kyle "K-Rock" Collins from the hip-hop trio 2 Mics and a Kit. In 2010 the band expanded and filled out their sound, adding Andrew Hartman on trombone and Lyndsey Helling as a second vocalist, prior to the release of the group's second record, "Now, Hear This!" Lyndsey amiably departed the group and relocated to Finland just before the official October release of the record. The band is currently playing shows in support of the new album and is joined live by Vincent Edwards, who has played piano with bands such as Varsouviana and Murder By Death in the past.
