Sally’s Dream is a pioneering all-female band from Bloomington, Indiana formed by Chrissie Dickinson (guitar, vocals), Cyn Hammond (bass, keyboards, vocals), Jenny Davis (keyboards, bass, guitar, vocals) and Emily Jackson (drums). The band was born in Bloomington in the early 1980s and raised in the town’s eclectic, bohemian scene. 

Sally’s Dream performed their emotive and driving pop tunes at clubs, colleges, and festivals extensively throughout the Midwest and the South. Bringing their unique sound and stage presence was both challenging and delightful for both the band and audiences unaccustomed to seeing an all female band in the heartland. 

In 1987, they moved to Boston where they continued to write, perform, and record their music. Although Sally's Dream disbanded in 1990, the women remained friends throughout the decades. Their love for each other and their music never died. 

These unsung heroines rocked their hearts out and had the times of their lives. Before the internet and cell phones, the band was DIY - from securing their gigs, promoting their shows, and recording their music. Sally’s Dream’s “mesmerizing, jangly pop” was featured on the all-female alternative band cassette compilation, “Matrax,” two “Live from Bloomington” LPS, Sirius Music’s “Son of Segments - the Kentuckiana Compilation” cassette, as well as their own cassette release, “Sally’s Dream - Midnight Matinee.” 

This project, "Sally's Dream, Breaking Through,” a compilation of 13 original songs, is a tribute in honor of bandmate Chrissie Dickinson, who sadly passed away in 2022. 

When Cyn, Emily, and Jenny came together in Bloomington to celebrate Chrissie’s life, they took a stroll down their musical memory lane, pulling out photos, show reviews, interviews, and handmade posters and set lists from their Sally’s Dream days.

They decided to revisit their recordings, digitalize the songs, and share their musical memories and sisterhood with the world. The album will be released in 2025, available on Bandcamp or by contacting sallysdreamband@gmail.com. Sally’s Dream is on social media platforms as Sally’s Dream, The Band.
