Kate Myers
Kate Myers, over a lifetime of traveling, living in various locales around the country, touring in backseats of vans surrounded by sweaty men, and spending time with relatives in Europe, has figured at least one thing out. Music is and will be a central element in anything that she does. “Music inspires my life, it’s what I was destined to create,” she says.
Coming from a musical family, beginning at a young age, Kate was surrounded by instruments and people who loved to play them. “We’re like the Partridge Family during the Holidays. The whole family jams together.” It was this upbringing and a portable Sony tape recorder that since the age of five-years-old has pointed Kate in the direction of making music. When she was in sixth grade, she learned to play the piano and the guitar and since then, she has been dedicated to practicing and perfecting her craft.
Her music is passionate and introspective. Drawing influence from singer/songwriters of the past (Jim Croce, Bob Dylan) and of the present (Conor Oberst, Fiona Apple), she has been able to create a style that is completely and recognizably her own and that transcends the standard coffee shop singer/songwriter genre. Her songs are stories of pain, love, hope and the experience that she has collected through her travels, her family and her years.
Kate’s debut, self-titled album was released in 2004, her second album, “Blanket Sky” in 2006 and her most recent work, “Instant Clarification,” in 2008. She has performed on stages all over the USA and in Europe and is set to release her 4th full length album, “Introducing the Ghost” in the October 2012.

After 4 years of performing, touring, being a member in other bands, and studying music in other forms, Kate returned to the studio to record her 4th full length album with Tyler Watkins (Margot and the Nuclear So & So\'s) at Queensize Studios in Indianapolis, IN. She was joined by a plethora of talented musicians to create her most collaborative effort yet: Aaron Vincel on drums, Pat Burnell on bass, Dave Black on guitars, Andrew Elliot playing cello, Erik Kang on violin, and Alex Kercheval giving some pedal steel love.
Going back to her roots of folk music, the album ditches the pop production found on Instant Clarification allowing for sounds more reminiscent of folky americana alt pop rock.

This album came about after dedicating two full years of only performing and touring. Having graduated from college to immerse herself in the musician\'s life of living off little, sleeping in vans and on the floors of those who would graciously welcome her to a home after a show, and not breathing anything outside of music, Instant Clarification was the testament to finding identity and seeing the world through a set of independent eyes. Engineered and mixed at Alley Recording in Valparaiso, IN with Ryan Herma, this pop-produced full length showcases a richer sound, thoughtful lyrics, and a overall theme of reflection.
Kate was joined by Will Schnabel on the drums, Courtney Sourwine on cello, and Ryan Herma playing bass and layering extra guitars and programming.

Blanket Sky was the product of Kate\'s college experience at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY, recorded as her senior project with Sebastian Schinkel who engineered and mixed the album at the school\'s studio. Songs were written in classes (songwriting and not), dorms, and practice rooms. Kate pushed the boundaries of the typical verse-chorus-bridge songwriting formula, exploring such aspects musically and not lyrically, in a more non-linear approach. Being immersed in composition classes, classical guitar, and other areas of music not previously experienced growing up writing by ear, this was Kate\'s most ambitious approach at writing and arranging songs with new constructs in comparison to her previous work.
Guest musicians included Jim Bertini on drums, Shiau-shu Yu playing cello on "False Interpretation," Daniel Bieber playing cello on "Radio B.E." and bass, and John Gnorski on pedal steel for "Fallen."
