Bolt Horse is a folk rock band based in Indianapolis. It started as the solo project of Jeremy Bauer, a singer-songwriter raised in a single-wide in rural Indiana. After playing the musical saw, percussion, and backup vocals for folk-rock bands in the late 2000s, he left music and the Hoosier state for about 8 years. 2022 found him reaching for music again to stay sane, and in 2024 he released his first EP—The Big Fun Ghost Demos.

In 2025, Bauer was the recipient of the MFT Studio Grant, which he used to put a band together and record the single "Catch."
