Quick: check what you've got penciled in for Saturday. Not next Saturday, this coming Saturday, July 15. Yes, all day. Cool. Scribble over your plans because I've got something way, way better. It's called the Hops & Hertz Festival and it's put on by your good friends Musical Family Tree in partnership with your other good friends Fountain Square Brewing Co.
Starting at noon on Saturday, a tremendous melting pot of Indiana musicians will all line up to play their beautiful tunes just for you, friend. "But how will I know what to expect from such a diverse array of musical talents?" I'm glad you asked, because it gives me a chance to mention my playlist. You see that little box with a list of songs in it up top? Go ahead and click play; it'll take you on a journey through the MFT archive in which you'll hear from an assortment of the artists who will be at the festival.
Advance tickets are $7, with day-of tickets costing $10: pick them up here. If a good cause is your speed (and it probably is, I'm guessing), then you'll be happy to know that 5% of all ticket sales will go to support Kammy's Kause, a music festival that's put on to raise funding and awareness for families afflicted by Wolf-Hirschorn syndrome.
The whole beautiful thing is made possible by the lovely sponsors Acceleration Art and Photography, Studio Live Indy, and Blind Pig Confessions (who will be holding a live podcast event at the festival). So queue up the ole playlist, and come through!
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
