Every month, we're going to host a guest-curated playlist by someone in the local scene. You wanna know what's blasting the head off of that person you see at every show? Then strap in, because that's exactly what this playlist series is for.
For our first entry, I reached out to Sharlene Birdsong. Does the name Sharlene Birdsong ring a bell for ya? Cause it ought to: she's the mighty force behind our IN Covers series, for one, which, if you've been skimming over those, then friend, I'm not sure there's much hope left for you. It's in your best interest to get everything right for yourself as soon as possible and check out, at bare minimum, her most recent entry: United States Three covering "We're Gonna Love" by Sir Winston and the Commons. I'd suggest a deeper dive, too, when you're through with that, but for now, stick with me and the very sick playlist she's curated for all of us.
This playlist is a ten-song trek through the Indiana stomp. We range from from the scorching skrong of the Last Four Digits, to Sirius Blvck's icy flow, to the funky wobble of Jerome & the Psychics, and a jangly turn from Sir Deja Doog. Sharlene's got a direct line on the good sounds, friend. And even if nine songs go by and you're not convinced, number ten will learn you: it's from Birdsong's own project Thee Tsunamis. She cranks on the drums. You should turn it up.
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
