Gently enter this week while Process My Office twinkles for ya, opening up and skittering. Soon enough my historical folk friend Mr. John Davey will drift you away from the skitter and in to the swoon, but it'll hardly be something you notice. More like you eventually look back and say to yourself, "Things were so different back then." Of course they were. But even that realization won't last long, because before the melody can crumble, the legendary Castle Oldchair is in with track three, collaborating with Lisa Fett, spiderwebbing song.
Crack. Smack. Action Strasse. Distort and syncopate, my friend. Wobble into vocal delay before the scorched throat cords come to pass with the heaviness of First Action Hero's "Some sort of Dramatic Fashion" (dramatic fashion, indeed, I tell you what). The rightfully beloved "Eden" by Hammer Screwdriver brings us back down, sweetly, before dissolving into the bass / base level lope of a new track from Grotto called "Wanted You to Know." Snare drum clatters in the background, but the vocal harmonies just swing all front porch-like and gentle.
Norman Oak invocates all over the place. I don't know what else there is to say beyond: his music's got me using the first person pronoun as I stream through consciousness, and it as well has got me remembering my time in Bloomington basements. Second Sight shake us from our nostalgia before PeTri and Eeka drift off into gentle soundscape and we're through. Love it. Love it. Love it.
Thanks, as ever, to Smallbox for helping to make these weekly playlists possible.
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
