Our EP in a Weekend series rides again, this time with Caleb McCoach, Sir Deja Doog, and Vess Ruhtenberg (United States Three, The Pieces, The Last IV). Track one's a quiet little burner of that same EP, and it's a sweet type of kickoff to this week's playlist. Read more about how the EP came together here.
Tracks two and three are in honor of shows I'm hitting up this weekend. Friday night I'm seeing my college years heroes Prizzy Prizzy Please because time is a flat circle sometimes. On Saturday I'm celebrating the big ole one year anniversary of State Street Pub because other times the years march all the way onward before you even realize what's happening.
About the remaining tracks in the playlist, I could say any number of things. They're all good. But instead, I am going to make a very pointed request: please tell me everything you know about Dixie and the Power and Light Co. This suburban religious musical group has fired the engines deep in my soul in that way only odd discoveries in this archive can. I want to know everything about the circumstances of these recordings. I want to know it now.
Thanks to Smallbox for their continued support of this weekly series!
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
