This one's got a lot of info on upcoming shows, because I was in that sort of a mood this week. Strap in and watch this playlist kick itself off with Indianapolis longtimers Shadeland in honor their Thursday show at the Hi-Fi with Coup d'Etat and Join the Dead. "I am the Fire," does these subtly surprising things with song structure throughout; it's inventive and perpetually succeeds at looking into little corners that I did not predict.
Track two is a dreamy acoustic number from State Bears; it's off an EP called Panama Canal and the band just added to the archive. The Down-Fi notch it up--as they always ought to--with Tears in Her Eyes. Catch them at Punk Rock Night this Saturday at the Melody Inn with The Holy Sheets, Smokes, and Metric Units. A wonky, bluesy new one from New Sordid Underground follows up next--it's "Chekhov Knockoff" and reminds me that the gun I hid in the first paragraph is going to have to fire before the end of this post.
Slide right through the tuneful country of Otto Mobile and you are in for a jerk to the left and a jerk to the right, because Golden Moses' is in with the outer space dub you never thought humans could make. But yeah, turns out humans can totally make, or at least one (semi-) human. Don't believe me? Catch him do it in person Saturday at the State Street Pub at the Holy Infinite Freedom Revival showcase, also featuring Frequency Ghost and Teen Brigade.
The Prannies are at the Spot on Saturday, Jade TV down in Bloomington on the same night. Split yourself in two and come stan with me for David Barajas, who just upped "Want You So Bad," and it's still in with that odd, crackling and leaning, almost-ASMR-somehow vibe that I am obsessed with (lowkey of course).
And, ok, let's close this thing out with a soothing little thing from BYBYE who are playing Joyful Noise on Friday with !mindparade and Jackson VanHorn. The track is from their latest album; get the skinny on it from our buds over at NUVO.
