So I ought to start off at the beginning: I am never not excited for more from The Belgian Waffles! on this archive. As such, their newly added track (recorded in 2014 for a comp on Gubby Records) kicks this playlist in a blown out blast that quickly collapses in a heavy, dark, bass cave where the only flicks of light come off the lightning flashes of sax and trumpet. If you're on the fence about this breakfast food band, check on Seth Johnson's great profile on them from a while back and you'll get sucked all the way in.
Lots of other new stuff on here from the likes of Damacy, Prowlers and the Prey, d i l e t t a n t e, and R.J., spanning from folky sweet sounds to to experimental outre. The old stuff too is delightful. And I've got to offer a special heart shaped shout out to that Random Tangents track--the guys in that band were two years ahead of me in high school and I thought they were the coolest band around. I still sing that song to myself sometimes, too.
