The holidays are over. Wow. Time sure does fly when you're trying not to let anxiety overwhelm you. Now it's on to a new year and (hopefully) 52 more lovely little playlists from your lovely little curator, Taylor.
Track number one on this playlist is from the latest addition to EP in a Weekend Archive, it features Rob Funkhouser and Parker James going texturally percussive. If you're familiar with our EP in a Weekend series, or if the title is self-explanatory enough for you, you can hear all the rest of the EPs right here. And stay tuned for a deep dive on this latest EP later this week.
I would also be remiss if I did not shout out track number two on this playlist--it's a tune that manages to be both funky and dreamy at the same time, and it's from the recently released Chris Dance and the Holy Echo LP called Hope. You can hear a few select tracks from it on the archive, and grab the whole thing over on CD Baby.
The rest of the playlist finds me still mining my memory for tunes that made me freak out at one point or another. I still almost smash every aluminum can in sight every time I hear "Shoes" by Beer, and something about Chad Serhal's voice makes me feel warm and diffuse, like on a confused winter break after a semester at sea. Something in it feels like coming home, feeling comfortable, and knowing that you've got to leave in the morning.
Anyway, stick with me kid and I'll show you the world, ten songs and once a week at a time.
Thanks, as ever, to Smallbox for making these playlists possible!
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
