So we've already talked once about music on Monument Circle put there in some way, small or large, by our pals at Big Car. Last time, it was Duncan Kissinger pointing mics at fans and blasting the low drone out at passerby I was talking about (which was part of a series that's still going on, by the way). This time instead of walking, I biked, and instead of literal box fans, it was Caleb McCoach and an acoustic guitar.
McCoach played as a part of Phono Fridays series, which runs every Friday between now and October 16. His softly strummed nylon guitar and mournful croon were a thoroughly welcome to the grind of circular traffic that usually fills the space.
The acts are handpicked by Big Car and Musical Family Tree, and they run the gamut from McCoach's chill folk, to hip-hop, R&B, and way more--peep an assortment of them in the playlist above. Each Friday there'll be one performance around lunch time (I snuck out of a meeting to see McCoach), and one right after work gets out. The full schedule is here.
For full details on the whole series and a rundown of every day's slate of activities, be sure to check out the Circle Spark website. And don't miss Rachel and Jonny at 5pm today. That's right. If you work downtown, instead of rushing home to get a jump on weekend projects, just meander down to the circle and catch some sweet jams. You won't regret it.
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
