This week I'm on the Tuesday/Friday/Saturday connection. No other days exist. Wednesday kind of exists I guess because on both Tuesday and Wednesday night in Bloomington you can go to Plan 9 for the premiere of Sir Deja Doog's Bad Dharma. Both screenings are running at 6pm and seating will be limited so get there later today (Monday, a day that, within the logic of my joke, doesn't technically exist) and camp out. Check out Rob Peoni's in-depth interview with Doog for more info on the film, as well as all manner of his other projects.
"Say, I really prefer to go through the Tuesday motions up in Indianapolis, have you got anything for me?" Sure do. You can pop over to Vibes around 7 for a slammer of a four-part bill featuring Jerome and the Psychics, The Constants, HEN, and The Bloody Mess. You're very lucky to be alive in the same reality that this show is happening. "Sure, Taylor, I feel lucky, but you know what would make me feel even luckier? An interview with Jerome Assad from Jerome and the Psychics." Well, imaginary conversational partner, you're in luck because Seth Johnson provided us with just that back in February. Bask!
Fast forward to Friday and there are some choices to be made: should you go to second floor of the Murphy building or should you stick to the ground? Well on the ground floor at the Hi-Fi you can catch Manners, Please, Dog & Pony, Chris Dance (whose track in the above playlist is the most recent addition to our ongoing IN Covers project--read more about that project here), and Kid Durango. Up at Joyful Noise Thee Tsunamis, Dirtbike, and FYCs will trot out jams. The choice is yours. Or perhaps don't make a choice and go to both.
And Saturday, finally. The fifth isntallment of the monthly Weird Vibes show will run from 3pm through 9pm featuring Blood Moon, Brandon Spaulding, Chicago Bulls Hat, El Camaron Electronico & Melt-Face, Ensemble AMP, Friary sonny und Die Belgier Shocka Schokolades, Golden Moses (who will be slangin' a brand-new exclusive tape available only at this event), Jorma Whittaker, Ray Creature, and Rev//Rev. Later on, the State Street Pub wil play host to Holy Wave, Missing Hearts, Slushy, Hollow Mountain, and Video Grave. In this case you don't have to make a choice; you can comfortably make it to both shows. Good for you!
Don't sleep on the three closing tracks on this playlist either--it's new additions from Burnt Ones, Jo Universal, and Limbers and they're all three different kinds of fire.
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
