Playlist: A Short Walk #24 - 03/30/2015
Posted March 30, 2015 by Taylor Peters

  1. "Live at the Cream 3/4/14" - John Flannelly
  2. "Sam Phillips Rising" - Apache Dropout
  3. "Sunoco Blues" - Wet Heave
  4. "Track 02" - Colts VS Pacers
  5. "We are the Goer" - We Are Hex
  6. "Dragons" - Yolder (from the MFT Preservation Series)
  7. "Le Plume D'or" - Indiana Chief
  8. "Married" - Moor Hound
  9. "In" - Astronaut Love Triangle
  10. "Tumbleweed" - Thom Yeoman

Hey there, friend. What are you doing tonight? Don't think; just answer. That's right, you're heading up to Lafayette to see Jobs, Exploding Head Scene, and John Flannelly at The Spot. I knew it. While you're driving you can listen to this playlist, especially since it kicks off with a track from Flannelly, and from Apache Dropout (whose own Sonny Blood helms those whacked sonics of Exploding Head Scene, don't ya know).

Ok, cool. Monday night's planned out. What about Tuesday? Perhaps you're feeling like hitting up The Root Cellar down in Bloomington for some low ceilings, fancy cocktails, and rock music? Peep Purple 7, Concord America, and Wet Heave then--the show starts at 9pm. And no, I don't expect you to take my word about Wet Heave. I expect you to take Jake Gardner's word about them. Hear "Sunoco Blues" in the playlist above.

Wednesday? Well, Wednesday's when I usually grocery shop, so I suspect I'll hit up Saraga for some mad cheap lentils and then catch Rural Carrier, Colts Vs. Pacers, and Microsleep making the weirdest sounds they can muster over at Listen Hear. You'll be there too. I can tell.

Friday's a double header and you're going to have to be in two places at once. I've got faith, though. Down in Bloomington, starting at 6pm, In Case of Emergency Press will celebrate their new location with an open house, followed by music at The Artifex Guild (conveniently located right next door) starting at 9pm. The show features We Are Hex and Magician Johnson. There'll be free food and beer at the open house. We're all alive at the same time. It'll be great.

And, since you put all that hard work into splitting yourself into two parts, I'm sure you'll also hit up the release party for Bangers by One's Antinomy EP at the Madame Walker theater. With performances from the likes of Sirius Blvck, Pope Adrian Bless, Jo Universal, Mariah Ivey, and more, there is literaly no way this show will not be a party. And, because I know you're craving ever more info about the EP, be sure to stay tuned here on the blog tomorrow for some very special MFT-brand details. They will be delicious and informative.

Finally--because there are no more jokes, only truths--you will be in attendance at General Public Collective as Indiana Chief, Grxzz, Diop, Drayco McCoy, and Peter Haze kick the strained sports analogy of the hip-hop soccer ball so hard into the goal that the referees award them three points instead of the usual one just because they're so astonished. That sounds awesome, doesn't it?

The playlist concludes with three new additions to the archive from Moor Hound, Astronaut Love Triangle, and Thom Yeoman. Interestingly, they all wade into a sort of country western/folky sound but then end up sounding entirely and irreducibly different. Ok, so maybe that's not really all that crazy, but it's a nice little trip, you know?
