So many shows and an absolute maximum of 168 hours in a week in which to attend them. Let's get on it, friends, because this playlist pours one out for an array of shows happening in the coming week. I want you to know about them. I want you to attend them. I want you to pat my head when we meet.
Tonight, March 16, down in Bloomington, Wet Heave will scuzz it up with touring bands Remnose and The Curls. That's why there's a Wet Heave track on the playlist! Get ready!
Fast forward to Thursday and come back to Indianapolis' Listen Hear and you've got the Temporal/ Spatial Sculpture Exhibition. In addition to featuring the works of a wide array of visual artists, the exhibition will include performances from Chicago's Zarzutzki and Bloomington's John Dawson. Dawson, as you may know, runs Magnetic South, and has played with an array of bands over the years, including Thee Open Sex (who are included in the playlist! Woah!) He was also a part of MFT's most recent EP in a weekend project, which you can check out here.
Then on Friday stuff starts to get wacky. By wacky I mean there are two shows. At the Indy Hostel you can get folky with Cyrus Youngman and the Kingfishers' EP release show, featuring Gypsy Moonshine (in that playlist, pal). OR, you can get weird down in Bloomington at Rachael's Cafe with Hair Peace, Sommer, Aurora Dorey Alice, and lather. The choice is yours!
And then, woah, okay, on Saturday stuff really starts to cook. Three shows? Three?! There's the Cut Camp-presented show at Sabbatical featuring NYAOMN, Neak, Slot-A, and Merc Versus. Versus, of course, in addition to finding a spot in the weekly playlist, was also a recent feature of MFT's Music Video in a Day series--watch it here. I also took the liberty of throwing a Hinx Jones track in the playlist because, even though they won't be playing on Saturday, Skittz and LONEgevity are tightly linked with the Cut Camp crew, and also I love 'em.
Saturday also finds The Bonesetters kicking it with Indigo Wild, Patchwork, and Tim Korenich at Backwash in Bloomington. And (MORE! MORE! MORE!) you've got James & The Drifters (in the playlist!) opening up for The Last Good Year at the Hi-Fi.
The playlist then closes out with two tracks named, in some way, "Indianapolis," because I'm all about good songs and thematic connections. Now I'm exhausted.
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
