What up, reader? Listen, I'm not even going to pretend like I care how this blog post finds you right now. I think we both know that we don't know each others lives and that this relationship is based purely on exchange--you give me your eyes, I give you information about cool shows happening at Indy CD & Vinyl. It's a simple enough set up and I'm happy with it. If it grows into something more down the line, well, let's cross that bridge when we come to it. Let's keep things professional for now.
Speaking of professional, here's the lead: this Saturday, March 7 hip-hop will hit Indy CD & Vinyl and it will hit it hard. Starting at 6pm and rolling on until 8pm when the shop closes New Wave Collective followed by Indiana Chief with Grxzz will take over the stage in the back. It's free. You should be there.

New Wave Collective, near as I can tell, is a name you're going to need to know when all accounts are settled at the end of days. Riding the high cresting wave of the recent Soul Food mixtape, the young group swells and swarms around hot center of their cruised-out beats. The tape itself is raw and right up in your face. Sometimes the vocals end up a little hot, clipping into the mixer, but the flows are locked down so tight it doesn't matter. Fre$co and J. Ice bring straight up fire. That fire, when it's let loose to full volume bounce on the, I'll admit, sorta flimsy stage at Indy CD & Vinyl, and I can guarantee things will get out of hand. In a good way.
If you're following this here blog, Grxzz and Indiana Chief might be a bit more familiar already. Indiana Chief has been the subject of a couple of our Music Videos in Day, including most recently "The Hunt." Watch him stalk around in the dark, bedecked in an eye patch and surrounded by natural animal violence in that one (it's embedded below), and you'll feel pushed and wobbly. Grxzz just put out his excellent Commander of the Beast Realm and I reviewed it here on the blog because, like I said earlier in this sentence, it's freaking excellent. Read up here.
This monthly series took a bit of a break right around the end of last year, but it's back in full force thanks to a variety of sweet, sweet sponsors, Indy CD & Vinyl, and Smallbox. If you want to dive back in and play a little catch up, we've got a back catalog of some recordings of past shows up here on the archive over on the MFT Live at Indy CD & Vinyl page. It includes the likes of Heather French Henry, The Constants, Bored., Teen Brigade, Freddie T. and the People, and way more. Part of the whole deal with MFT is spreading Indiana music of every stripe imaginable, something I think that shines through that little list of artists up there. Keep an eye out for upcoming events like this one on the first Saturday of every month. We'll be going deep on an ever-wider array of certified cool Indiana stuff and you won't want to miss it.
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
