Update: though the event was originally planned to take place in Room 303 at the Murphy, the location has now been officially changed to Postal Recording.
Imagine me throwing off my best Burroughs, three-piece suit and all, as I say this: Cosmic Microwave Radio transmissions are beaming down through the restless atmosphere and coming in straight and hot for your little solitary brain stem. The space aliens predicted your movements way back in big bang times and knew where and when you would stand. They drew an x-marks-the-spot on the selfsame space and gathered up their leather straps to fire off what wills they may've found a sufficient unguent. It's all very knee deep for the buyers and for the sellers.
Through the gauze of substantially less obfuscation, what I'm actually here to say is that there's a very cool event going down this Friday at the Murphy in Fountain Square Postal Recording called Cosmic Microwave Radio and if you're on board for blog-based Burroughs impressions and weird, weird sounds leaking out speakers, you're on board for the Cosmic Microwave Radio scene.
The show will feature short noise sets from the likes of DMA, Brandon Beaver as Mr. Freedom, Derek Johnson, Luminous Points, Jim Kincaid, and Matt Hagan. It'll run from 6pm to 10pm in Room 303, and for the first hour #3TEEF will have an interactive noise table set up in the room--any and all takers can bend to the will of the cosmic background burn. While it lasts there'll even be free beer for the physical bodies in the space.
And, for those bodies that are less fleshly insinuated, the whole thing will be live-streamed online via this here Ustream link. Unless you're working in a bunker whose walls wi-fi can't crack, there's no excuse to miss it. But, if for some strange, strange reason you do, don't worry too hard. Matt Hagan, who alongside Brandon Beaver also plays with We Are Hex and is a driving force behind organizing the event, says he'd like to make Cosmic Microwave Radio a regular event taking place throughout revolving venues around the city. No details yet, but as I am evermore steeped in the wonky sounds the world can make, you'll no doubt hear an update from me pretty much as soon as I know.
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
