The theme of this week's Short Walk playlist is the variety of short walks you, reader, will take from your car to the venue this weekend as you attend the boatload of cool shows going on. As it happens, an average boat can hold approximately five shows, and so this post promotes a straight up techincal boatload of shows. Check it:
- Tonight at the Indy Hostel in South Broad Ripple, the Zulu Nation presents Rock the House which is part of the Indy Hostel's Hostel Take Over Series. There'll be info about the Universal Zulu Nation of Central Indiana on offer, an open mic rap cypher, and performances from the likes of Hinx Jones (featured above), The ProForms, and Rehema McNeil. Doors are at eight, and it's five bucks, or three if you bring a winter clothing item to donate.
- Also tonight at Sabbatical: Grxzz, Diop, Indiana Chief, New Wave Collective, and Xei the Ghost will bring down any fragile looking edifice. This one kicks off at nine. Preview a Grxzz and a Diop track in the playlist above.
- ALSO TONIGHT, we've got a Fountain Square house show with The Cowboys, The Hot Screams, Shame Thugs, and Ghost Gun Summer. Invent time travel and go to all three of these shows because this one's at nine, too, and it's all the way down in the square.
- Tomorrow night Debbie's Palace of Noise and Laundry will welcome all open-arm-like The Lemons, Chives, Missing Hearts Band, and Chieftan. Don't mess or miss or screw this up.
- And last but so thoroughly not least, tomorrow night will also find the Hi-Fi hosting Bringing Down the Band's five year anniversary party. DJ Metrognome, DJ Jay Diff, and Slot-A will be jamming all night. It's five bucks presale and seven at the door. I've got a couple tracks from Beats and Breakfast up in that playlist because Sean Stuart's got himself deep into both BDTB and Beats and Breakfast, but if you want a wider look at what they'll be spinning, peep BDTB's Turn off your Fucking Radio series right here.
"Boy, that sure is a lot of shows!" You are correct, and I'm sure I've missed a bunch. There are a lot of things going on right now, so hop on the hype train with me and we'll go for a ride.
