Hello again, fair reader. This week I've got a short walk that I'm pretty proud of because it takes you on an actual trip. You start off all smooth and comfortable with the soulful folky sounds of Tonos Triad, but then before you even know what's happened you're ankle deep in GRASS SM6's murky dive into the cast off mire of the engines of capitalism/tape machines grinding up your boy and mine, Rob Zombie.
There's a lot of new stuff on here, like that GRASS SM6 track, which is long and strange and credited to Sharlene Birdsong of Thee Tsunamis, and like "Egg on My Face" off that brand new Digital Dots EP that was oh-so-very-recently uplaoded to the archive. There's older stuff too, a lot of which is brand new to me, including Crankpin who churn out grime-inflected rock music like it's nobody's business, and Zack Worcel's solo work (he's also been sighted once or twice with those lovable Bloomington rascals The Cowboys) which delights me in its Ween-like craziness. I also stuck an older Impossible Shapes track in there because a) I love the Impossible Shapes and b) Chris Barth, formerly of The Impossible Shapes, currently of NormanOak, just released a new album, and I just reviewed it, so I'm cross-promoting.
Tune in next week when we go ever deeper into the heart of darkness and/or the MFT archive.
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
