Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Kian Adams began writing music at the age of 13, but only started recording and releasing under the persona of “shrew” at 15. His earliest works revolved around everyday struggles that affected him such as bullying and fighting. These topics soon expanded to things like childhood trauma, finding and losing love, along with other current experiences. Kian has gone on the record to say he bases his flows off other artists like JID and Meek Mill, while his lyrics are more inspired by J. Cole and even Serj Tankian, the lead singer of “System of a Down.” Adams has drawn comparisons to other artists with his various styles of work, most notably being Immortal Technique and Tyler, The Creator. With 4 EPs (Conference, Take-Out!, R1B2, Wrigley’s Revenge) and 2 albums (Scales and Creekside) under his belt, he looks to impact a new generation by releasing his best works onto Spotify. Shrew as a character reminds listeners that their voice is their strongest and most reliable weapon, and should be utilized regardless of potential outcome. Why? It’s always better to try and save the world, than to watch it burn knowing you did nothing to help…or contribute.

While technically his 6th project, Creekside is the first full-length album from shrew. Kian's goals for this album were to send a message by sharing various topics, struggles, and perspectives of his childhood and younger experiences. In addition, he wanted this to be his most descriptive and powerful, best-produced album to date. In collaboration with multiple Naptown artists, most notably "coopxst," and unwavering dedication, Kian was able to make his dream a reality. The "Definitive Edition" provides the listener all content from the initial album, the deluxe, and bonus singles that were dropped after the album's release. Is it worth it? That conclusion is for you to draw.
