Philia began as a solo project by drummer and producer Dan Giffin. The project later developed into a band after Dan recruited his longtime childhood friend on bass guitar, and a talented jazz saxophonist he met performing at a local club. The group's chemistry grew as they spent late nights recording and writing at Dan's home studio, developing a funky fresh new style of jazzy, danceable, bass-hitting music.
