About: | Oakland, CA. Pat Spurgeon- all instruments. Pat is known for being the drummer in many great bands including (and somewhat in order)- Steve Kowalski's Army, Antenna, Stranded At The Drive In, The Staple Guns, Brando, Old Pike, and most recently (2003-present) as a multi-instrumentalist in Rogue Wave. Even more recently the drummist in the rock duo called Churches. |
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
These are various 4 track/ pro tools recordings dating from 2002-2009(ish) some of which are incidental songs in the documentary film D-Tour.
2011,
These songs were recorded using Pro-Tools and Tascam 388 (quarter inch 8 track reel to reel). I recently aquired a Gibson J-200 and an iPhone. All of the accoustic guitar is played on the Gibson. A majority of the drum machines/ synth sounds are iPhone apps.
2011,
I don't usually write words to my songs, but I like to sing, so this album is my attempt at singing. These are covers of songs from my past that have been important to my musical upbringing. I've only just begun recording, so stayed tuned. More songs to come.
I start with Sound of Confusion by Spaceman 3. After Steve Kowalski, Jake from Antenna made me a mix tape with The Velvet Underground, Big Star, The Frogs, The Bats, Spaceman 3, etc and this got me on a new path musically. Prior to this mix, I was pretty much all about Elvis Costello, XTC, The Who, and The Jam. Spaceman 3 helped me realize that I can enjoy simplicity and texture as well as straight up rockin'.
