Dear MFT Community,

This weekend, Musical Family Tree will be moving our headquarters out of the Murphy Building. Since becoming home to Joyful Noise Recordings and then MFT, the lovely Suite 208 has been host to countless amazing bands, incredible connections, and great memories and will always be Musical Family Tree’s first physical space. Our experience opening and managing our first headquarters and venue has been an absolutely incredible opportunity and made us even closer to our local music community, providing a new way to connect with musicians, fans, and the music industry.

This new transition provides the opportunity to utilize these new relationships we’ve built and learn from the musicians we’ve worked with to create another space that is truly by and for local musicians. While we will likely find a new home soon, we are confident that the programs and values that MFT shares with the local music community are vital to all our creative music activities wherever they take place. Please stay tuned as we continue our plan for the future and please let us know if you would like to help us with our move this Sunday starting at noon!

Musical Family Tree Board Chair, Ben Leslie comments, "MFT’s path has been to discover and rediscover what it means to be a community of musicians in Indiana. This change is no exception. The landscape changes quickly, as our Fountain Square friends know. So, discovery has to become part of the process and fabric of MFT - Musicians discovering our own voices. Music listeners discovering the artistic expression in local, original music. Us all discovering how vital a local, original musical family is to our community."

We want to send out an enormous thank you to the musicians who have shared their music in this venue and who are continually creating and making Indiana a beautiful place. We love and support you and are dedicated to helping our state’s music community continue to grow and blossom. Thank you for all you do.

An immense thank you also goes out to our devoted MFT members and donors whose support has helped us offer paid performing opportunities to over two hundred talented local and national artists - this space and our transition to a new home could not be possible without you!

Next, an enormous thank you to the sponsors who make what we do possible: Kolman Dental, LUNA Music, and Fountain Square Brewing Co. Without these businesses’ support, a venue would never have been possible. We feel so incredibly fortunate to live in a city whose businesses actively support the local music community; corporate investment in the arts is a critical part of building a sustainable music economy. Thank you again to all our sponsors!

Another partner we would like to thank is Deylen Realty, for supporting Musical Family Tree throughout our time at the Murphy, including helping us financially and supporting our vision for a more connected and vibrant music community. In addition, Craig Deylen is actively working with MFT to find another home that will fit our needs and help us continue our work and we are so grateful. Thank you!

And, of course, we cannot express enough gratitude for Musical Family Tree’s incredible Board of Directors who volunteer their valuable time, energy, and expertise to this organization and the people we support. Thank you, Ben Leslie, Jeb Banner, Marc Williams, Rob Peoni, Ken Honeywell, Becca Hopson, Jim Rawlinson, Justin Shimp, and Sharlene Birdsong! Lastly, we truly cannot express enough gratitude for Seth Johnson's impeccable music curation and incredibly hard work. All the music anyone saw in this space was possible because of Seth's dedication and intimate knowledge of the Indiana music community. There truly are few people as valuable to this city as Seth Johnson. We can't wait to continue curating incredible music events with you, Seth!

Please join us for our last two shows tonight and tomorrow night to celebrate the amazing music and community that has been showcased here in the last eight months.
