Hey, so, my name is Taylor and I have had a long-term low-key secret goal with these playlists and I'm about to tell you about it. Ever since these playlists were in the single digits, I have wanted to dedicate exactly half of one of these playlists to a single Saturday. Now I know what you're thinking, "Taylor, that's such a lame goal," and, probably also, "You've probably done that before at some point in the past without even noticing or commenting on it," and to those things I say, "Shut up, friend and reader, this is my intro paragraph."
Anyway, are you excited for Saturday? Early on in the evening, you can hit up Indy CD & Vinyl for one of MFT's monthly in-store featuring HEN and Sir Deja Doog, both for the low, low price of as much money as you accidentally spend on weird used stuff that you find as you browse and listen. Which, I guess that could be zero, but let's be honest with each other.
Then, okay, later on, down in Fountain Square at the newly-opened Pioneer , we've got S.M. Wolf and Mike Adams at His Honest Weight popping off in honor of S.M. Wolf's brand new LP Neon Debris. And, that's not enough, apparently(??!!), becuase in between sets my boy Jon Rogers a.k.a. DJ Jun Ra will be spinning what I want to call "the hottest jams" but that I know I can't call them that becuase I use that phrase way too often. Whatever we call them, they'll be nice to listen to.
The remainder of the playlist is made up of two brand new tracks in the archive from Happy Incident and Cozy Catastrophes and three tracks from bands who I've got weird angular memories of seeing live. Someone in The Elms apparently knew someone at my childhood church and they played in our youth worship center when I was like 13 and all I remember is that I had a good time and that later I cut up my shin and broke a bench trying to skateboard in the parking lot.
Prayer Breakfast played at a coffee shop in Bloomington once when I was a sophomore in college. I went and saw them on a cold night and I left my coat at home, so when I tried to walk to a bar later with some of my buds I had to shuffle fast. Then there was the cool time I saw Memory Map in Cincinnati in a church on a steep hill that you could only get to by one weird secret way with my friend's band from that town. Later that night I went to a bonfire. End of anecdote. End of blog post.
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
