Look. If you read my words, you're bound to learn a thing or two. Maybe about spearfishing, maybe about upcoming shows in our lovely little state. For the time being, I'll lean in to the shows, and maybe mop up a little bit on the spearfishing as a conclusion.
Show #1 for you to learn about in this post: Jude Brown, Minus World, and Rest You Sleeping Giant, Wednesday night, Crush Grove, Bloomington, Indiana, 8pm. Look at all those details, all in a row. So pretty. So clean. I played a show with Jude Brown a few weeks ago and it was an experience I'd recommend to pretty much all of you.
Thursday night finds S.M. Wolf, Indigo Wild, and Santah hopping on the high wire over at the Hi-Fi. I dropped S.M. Wolf not only because I love them with all of my heart, but because they have been busy lately. Releasing videos, dropping lathe cuts, planning full lengths, it's a flutter of activity over there.
What about Friday, though? Friday! Friday! On Friday, HEN will whack out some random business-guy's lunch break by playing on Monument Circle at 12:30. I'm going to take my lunch right around then and hop on over so I can see it all go down. I'm excited to do so.
If you're looking for something a little less lunch and a little more dinner, you've got options. The Down-Fi, The Ex-Bombers, and King Tut's Tomb will be at State Street Pub, while Tanner Standridge, Secondary Modern, and Major Murphy will be at Joyful Noise.
Flash forward to Sunday and head on back to the circle for a little bit of action from Nat Russell and Chris Voorhees (and be sure to check out some archival material from Voorhees up in the playlist by way of Tiny Human Creature).
In order to make some space for some sweet discoveries new and old, I left my boys Rob Funkhouser and John Flannelly off the playlist this week, but don't forget you can catch them this Saturday right around 6pm for MFT's monthly in-store at Indy CD & Vinyl (and consider catching up with this review of a recent collaborative release they put out back in May).
Oh, and because I hate breaking the promises I make in opening paragraphs, here's a link to the Wikipedia page on spearfishing.
Perpetual thanks and goodwill to Smallbox for their continued support of this playlist!
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
