Cataracts, indiENGAGE, and MFT join forces to present 2 Night Show II
Posted October 17, 2014 by Taylor Peters

MFT is all about that sickly-sweet synergy these days. It oozes out our pores. It's on our breath. It makes us dizzy but also a little more likely to talk to people at parties, right? A lot has been said (i.e., I've said a lot) about our recently indomitable pals at Running Bodies Productions, so we'll let that one rest for a bit, but what of the others, viz., in this case, Cataracts and indiENGAGE? They are just off the coast, circling like sharks, app developing, show planning, plotting.

Consider the next show, fully planned and ready to pop off at any minute (tonight, 9pm, to be a little more exact), and, further, consider the next show not as much a show but maybe, just maybe, a "micro-festival?" Sure, that sounds right, and it fits the two-night structure of the thing, which fittingly calls itself 2 Night Show II. Tonight the party rages at Our Lady of Perpetual Radness, a.k.a., General Public Collective, a.k.a., that place in Fountain Square that almost compulsively puts on cool events (in addition to the subject at hand, I'm pretty psyched for the screening of Coven they've got slated for the 27th).

On the bill are Today's Hits and Dr. Paul both out of Lexington and both underside-scraping roustabouts, running fractured/slack-textured jams through blown-out amps. Hip-hop heroes will hold down the local angle: Sirius Blvck and BORED (peep BORED.'s live in-store at Indy CD & Vinyl from back in June as recorded by myself and BrainTwins embedded above). This very blog has told you all manner of secrets about both of these, so I'll leave the clicking to you and shut right up: read Seth Johnson on Sirius Blvck here, and on BORED. here (Johnson goes hard in the paint, FYI).

Saturday then: four out-of-towners plus the only Beatle I care about Sir Raw McCartney, all slurping summer straight through damp fall into FS storm grates. We got Hunters out of New York, Bummers Eve from Cincinnati, Sex Jams all the way from Austria, and Meatbodies from California. It will go down in history as one of the greatest debates of all time which of these two nights was the scuzziest, but my money's on Saturday. Things will get REAL.

"Wait a minute, aren't Meatbodies about to get super famous?" Called it. Check out NUVO's recent interview with Meatbodies' Chad Ubovich, and their whole "first listen" deal over at Cool Dad Totebag Central, a.k.a., NPR. This one's at Debbie's Palace of Noise and Laundry, and there's a BBQ potluck beforehand starting at 7pm, so it'll either get rowdy or super relaxed depending on how much pulled pork everyone slams.
