On Saturday October 4th, MFT will host our annual New Music Showcase at the Maltese Tiger; RSVP on Facebook if you, like me, usually feel better after you've clicked a few links and buttons. In addition to a real treasure of a playlist of some of my favorite tracks by artists who will be playing at the showcase and whose music is up on our archive (embedded below), I've assembled a bit of pre-emptive FAQ about the event wherein I get to talk to myself in written form.
Q: What time is the event? And how much does it cost to get in? Is it all ages? Basically, could you just tell me all the logistical details about the event, because I'm sure we both know that if we break the details up into several different little Q&A bits, this joke will get tiresome.
A: You're probably right. Let's dive right in. The show runs from 1pm to 11pm, and, yes, it's all ages. It's a pay what you want type of deal, because although as a recently minted Very Real 501c3 Non-Profit Entity we love any and all donations, we're mostly just interested in people getting to see some cool music. There will be food trucks, local vendors, and two stages. And the whole deal, weather permitting, will take place outside at the beautiful and not-actually-that-scenic Maltese Tiger.
Q: Is my dad's band playing and if so, what time?
A: Listen, I'd love to help you out, but I have no idea who your father is, so there's no way I could even begin to answer this question without more detail. How about I just link you to the day's schedule and call this question "answered."
Q: How do you not know who your own father is/isn't this Q&A techincally just you talking to yourself?
A: I told myself I wouldn't go meta.
Q: Ok back up from the meta ledge, my friend. How about a nice link dump of posts on the blog about some of many cool artists that will be at the show?
A: I've got so many links I don't even know what to do with them. We've got Sonny Blood reviewing Ray Creature's new LP. Or how about Seth Johnson with a clutch feature on BORED.? A preview piece from back in March about when Pnature Walk played with the Cowboys at Indy CD & Vinyl? Reviews of releases by both John Stamps and Sirius Blvck? Or perhaps you could drop a click on a review of John Flannelly's MFT-exclusive release Music for Excitable Hikers by Jon Rogers?
Q: Solid link pile. Anything else?
A: Yeah, how about this exclusive mix by Jorma Whittaker who will be playing with his band Bait & Tackle Tabernacle? Does that work for you?
Q: I just realized that in your last two answers you, the answerer, have asked me questions, making the whole FAQ enterprise sort of fold in on itself, leading me to wonder if the bit hasn't run its course. Any last words?
A: Come to this event! It's a great chance to check out a bunch of cool up and coming local bands and to support the local music scene. And for the low low price of Literally Whatever You Want to Pay, there's just no reason why you sholudn't make it out. If you don't believe me or my impulsive reflexivity, trust at least my use of exclamation points!!
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
