Premiere: Three videos by Thunder/Dreamer

Evansville's Thunder/Dreamer play stately, Americana-influenced indie rock. Pacing-wise, they're never in a hurry to get anywhere, but they always sound damn good getting there. Their debut self-titled EP is one of 2013's hidden gems (stream it below), and it reveals a talented band worth checking out.

Fortunately, Thunder/Dreamer are giving all of us a second chance to get it right, so let's pay attention this time! They have a a forthcoming full-length, Lonesome Morning, and recently unleashed three new music videos featuring songs from the album as solo acoustic performances by frontman Steven Hamilton.

The videos were shot by Zak Stoldt at Cedar Bluff in Bloomington, and they perfectly capture the somber beauty of springtime in southern Indiana. In addition, I've never heard an angel sing, but I'm pretty sure even heavenly creatures in all their glory have nothing on Hamilton's voice. It is seriously incredible that these guys haven't gotten wider acclaim based on the strength of the vocals alone.

The songs are stripped down and simple, but their emotional weight never decreases on repeated listens. When Hamilton gently coos, "Now forever trapped / in the south / south Indiana," on the song "Lonesome Morning," I think I know exactly how he feels. The meaning behind the songs is personal, but their heartache is universal.

In addition to dropping Lonesome Morning online sometime in July, Thunder/Dreamer will be hitting the road for some midwest dates this Summer, presumably as a full band. Give 'em some love!

Tour dates:

June 26 - Evansville IN - Lamasco Bar

August 9 - Louisville KY - The New Vintage

August 21 - Owensboro KY - The Creme

August 22 - Evansville IN - PG
