About: | Specializing in the craft of the pop rock song, KS combines witty lyricism with pent-up, poor-man angst. Jared and Alex met originally in Bloomington working together at Denny's, and an unbreakable bond of anger and irritation would ensue. Greg recruited the two for another music project, but instead decided to begin anew with a fresh mind and body of ideas. In the spring of 2009, Drew was brought on to hit skins and babysit the band. The drive behind KS is the dynamic of differing styles and influences from each member, each plotting wholeheartedly to stun and confuse the others. The true impact of KS is in its live show; uncompromising and raw, KS will put a lil' jingle in anyone's two-step. After surviving a three 2009 tours, the band has high hopes for further survival and more empty floors to rest weary heads upon. |
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
2009, Independent / Attic Recordings,
The band's first release, Knifey Spoonie, is the first glimpse into the genre-jumpers known as Knifey Spoonie. With songs ranging from angt-ridden punk to druken country to sing-along pop rock, KS demonstrates its ability to weave among sorts of influences while still sounding cohesive. With songwriting duties split between guitarists Alex Molica and Greg Moore, the album is dynamic and almost fights with itself to find a true identity, but finds common ground with its steady and the pulsing rhythms, powered Drew Kincius on drums and Jared Coyle on bass guitar. All recorded with live tracks in just one day, Knifey Spoonie gives a sneak peak of the band's live energy and bite.
