Kate Lamont
==Versatile vocalist Kate Lamont describes her decade as one of “musical education and collaboration.” In 2001, she emerged as the silky-toned chanteuse of trip-hop act Mab Lab. In 2004, Lamont shifted gears to become the bracing voice of banjo-and-mandolin group Blueprintmusic. “I’ve floated through so many styles,” says Lamont, who also worked with the percussion-centric Undefeatable Beats.
Now, Lamont will issue her first solo album, “After the Traffic,” on Marcy 27, 2010. This album is a minimalist collection of piano-based songs. “I’m excited to finally put together a show of stuff I came up with,” she says. A March 27 record-release event is planned at Earth House Collective, the Downtown activist haven where Lamont works as operations manager.==
