About: | dots and shields was the first solo venture for songwriter Jon Wood. one album was self-released in 2005 called 'a novella about flying in pods'. soon after the crap of hidden gems was released he co-founded the band 'heavy hometown'. dots and shields was the solo songwriting platform for JON as he is the kind of guy who is constantly writing songs. this is the lo-fi sounds, the bedroom pop, the 4-track valla vista. whatever that means. anyhoo, dots and shields morphed into DIGITAL DOTS when JON was no longer playing with the band he co-founded. cue the patsy cline version of 'crazy'. maybe one day this project will be revisited. but for now i will post old songs from this era. from outerspace we are all just a bunch of buzzing dots, and you better have a shield if you want to survive. |
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
2006,
random songs and recordings from my days on hard drugs. i'm half-kidding.
2005, old and sux,
recorded when i was a kid/fool in bloomington in 2005. the songs are great, the recordings sucks and my voice is a little better in 2014 (and my focus). recorded in the sky at DMA studios. ran out of money and patience. a lame effort with hidden gems in the dirt.
2006, old and sux,
demo's for an album that never got recorded. some songs i went on to play with heavy hometown, just like some songs off of 'novella'. just a bunch of cool songs i wasted by being in the maze. but i'm happy i wrote the songs. could record them much better today, and one day i hope i can go back and re-record all my songs from my real youth. hope you can see through the mist.
