Deep Cricket Night is a four cornered, pearly moonlight serenade unfurled headlong into dawn with Beggar’s Banquet in your ride, Townes Van Zandt at your side, and an original melodic moan comprised of Lance Drake (gtr/vocals), Joseph Werner (percussion/drums/vocals), Geraldine Haas (cello), Ciaran Cooper (percussion/drums), Phillip Alley (guitar/mandolin/banjo), and Aaron Spelbring (bass/dobro).

Musically, they build their unique electric-acoustic sound with an instrumentation highlighted by the melodic lead guitar playing of Phil Alley and the lead vocal-lyrical strength of the band's primary songwriter, Lance Drake. The eclectic rhythm section of Joey Werner, Ciaran Cooper, and Aaron Spelbring round out the band's ability to perform acoustic or amped up. Deep Cricket Night is a versatile band that can play any kind of venue or event and do so with a more stripped down sound and line up or with the full band. They mix indie rock, alt country, and Americana into a cohesive style all their own. They are a band that plays regionally and is working to expand their base throughout the Midwest further.

"The opener is something of a decoy, and paves the way for more fragile, melancholic acoustic guitar-led songs punctuated with some brooding cello that adds both atmosphere and depth that are actually quite affecting in places, and the vocals – vaguely reminiscent of The Black Angels – become less nigglesome after a degree of exposure. Track 4, 'Through the Arches' is particularly moody, and features a dissonant ascending riff that's really quite gripping."

Stumble here is the demo I made of the song in my home studio, pre presenting it to the band, late summer 2004.

Lake Pontchartrain was recorded live at Martyr's, sometime in spring 2005. I originally wrote this song right before PJ moved to New Orleans and performed it there for the very first time solo in 2001 or 2002..?

Someone Elses's Skin was a staple in the early sets of the original line up. This demo was recorded in fall 2004.
