About: | Dat Boy Johnny (DBJ) is a Midwest rapper who grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and has been casually dropping tunes since 2010. He decided to switch it up after graduating from Indiana University (Bloomington) by moving to London, England. London provided exposure to many different types of music and influences. In 2014, DBJ moved to Melbourne, Australia and has since incorporated Aussie cultural references into his music, giving an American perspective on living down under. |
Help us spread Indiana music, and we'll give you special rewards as our way of saying "thanks!"
2016,
Inspiration for this track came from Pimp C's song, 'Knockin' Doorz Down' (featuring Lil' Keke and P.O.P.) from Pimp's second solo album, Pimpalation. Lil' Keke's line to end his verse, 'Showing my surround while I'm knocking the doors off', is where the idea for the hook came from.
2015,
After winning the Koolta Decent remix competition, Brisbane emcee/producer Calski gave emcee’s a chance to feature on a track with one of Australia’s most skilled rappers Dialectrix. allaussiehiphop.com and Calski teamed up for the ‘guest verse’ competition to coincide with the release of Calski’s new single I Know feat. Dialectrix.
Dat Boy Johnny came in at runner up and had a lot of fun participating in the competition.
