Basilica was founded in Bloomington in 2005 by Ben S. Jacob, whose compositions for two electric violins, two electric guitars, electric bass guitar, and drums served as the foundation of their style. Basilica went on one East Coast tour before settling in Indianapolis, where a variety of second violinists were auditioned while performing one- and two- violin sets, and preparing audio/video releases.
